Default work at home?

Anybody work at home or worked at home before? What are some of the pros and cons of doing this? I am considering working at home so I can spend more time with my baby. I need some advice if any of you have any.

Thanks!

I can work from home and choose not to. Here is why.....

My wife and kids have the summer off from school. They get in the way and my productivity goes way down. I have to get drinks, put on movies, feed them snacks, etc...

Then when I am home I am expected to throw a load of laundry in or have dinner started, etc...

No thanks, I'll take the office.

yea i have the same issue. Since i run my own business i can decide to stay home all day and not go into the office at all. I get a lot of RIF (nagging) for it cause she says i could do what ever i want but like E said. Productivity goes way way down. Its hard for me to concentrate on business when im home. So i know its hard but its necessary get out of the house to do what you need to do. If your not the primary earner in the family , then its ok to deal with the extras. But if your the primary i would recommend you find a neutral area or go to the other side of the house.

Default I sometimes work from home and it helps

For the same reasons that the others don't like working at home, I like being at home. I'm able to multitask and getting some of the house chores done is a plus. It gives me more time with my hubby to be and my puppy on our non-work days.

I don't have to drive into the office, which is the most important factor with athome occupations. But I think to be really successful at home, you have to have an area of your home where you designate it to be "the Office"

Essentially, you have to close it up just like you would if you left the office.

Thanks for your input everyone. I am starting my own business and to avoid having to pay for office space, I was thinking maybe I could work from home. I would still put my baby in day care a few days out of the week to do site visits, but now I'm thinking it won't work because I'll have to be on the phone all of the time.

Thanks again!
