Do you prefer to see the good in people and be disappointed or, see the bad and be pleasantly surprised?

this is a trick question. if I say I prefer to see the good and be disappointed, I will come out as a cynic. If I say I prefer to see the bad and be pleasantly surprised I would come out as a negativist.

I would rather see human beings.... capable of rising above the pettiness, negativeness and inherent fraility... and capable of excelling and becoming better if they so choose.

Darn. I was not trying to sound good, man. Life has dealt me a lot of blows and quite a number of surprises with both good and bad people. It would hurt more if I began to judge people for being bad or good and expecting the oposite.

Thus, my answer. And I will let it stand. Cinicysm is not the answer. Neither is negativism. Sorry.......

I prefer to see the bad in people and be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, I gotta agree with Rosa on this one, I much prefer to see the bad in people and be pleasantly surprised, but then again, I'm a realist and I tend to see both the good and bad in people pretty much from the moment I meet them.

Until they start to show their true colors. At that time, its like a Specturm; my trust for them starting to go down and I take everything they say with a grain of salt.

Becuase of this, I perfer to see the good in people first. I met lots of people that showed me their "bad" side first and maybe it was that they were having a bad day. I later became friends wit these people b/c they had a good side. Moral of the story: Don't judge to quickly. Always give people a shot.

I guess for me it depends on the person. If someone rubs me the wrong way its hard for me to "see the good in them" especially if it happens when I first meet them.

Normally however I try to find something positive in everyone.
