If you are here illegally, you risk being deported. I don't know why that is a racist statement. It is a law and therefore a fact. So, for some reason, we keep bumping heads. Yes, I have a Hispanic surname and my Spanish and English needs improvement, but only on the keyboard.

I don't think that my comments were snide or selfserving, but everyone is entilted to their opinion.

Here we go again.... "if you are here illegally...."

A better way to put it would be: "If someone is illegally in the US..." etc. People take ofense at that kind of perception.

Lets do something, even if as you say, everyone is entitled to their opinion (think: why should not I believe YOU are residing illegally in the US, especially because you keep bringing this subject up?): DROP IT ALTHOGETHER! Just stop, period.

Yes, you are quite correct. That is why I just said on my last one to let us drop it (meaning it is over).

And no, I am not going to apologize. I did take some exception for reasons that should be obvious. Legal (I am a 5th. generation American!) or illegal, no one has the right to make others feel any lesser and this is not the right place for people to vent that kind of attitudes... especially since we are a veritable United Nations, with people of many different ethnic and national backgrounds.

TNJ is first about NJ stuff and secondly about friends. And, since I came here, I learned to value the friends I made and dont want to see any of them threathened, ever so slightly and in passing, by ill-thought utterances about national origins or race.

Of course, you guys can vote me out anytime if you feel I am being a hindrance to the forum. No biggie Meanwhile...
