i was watching the Sopranos and was wondering if there really is a type of mafia in Jersey. I mean if there is ide really like to hear about it. whos got the scoop?

Growing up I knew of Cuban and Italian mafia around Elizabeth, that my older brothers were friends with.
I had an older sister that was murdered by the mafia back in 1972. Her murder or murderers were never caught.
I don't know how big or popular they are now.

Sorry to post it like that, didn't mean to. She was my adopted sister that I never met, but knew alot of.

Maybe Moni or other members that actually live in Jersey still can post if they know of any happenings of the newer mafia families.

the Genovese, Luchese, Scrafo, Decavalcante and other mob families all are or have been very, very strong in New Jersey. The Sopranos is a kind of 'collage' (a little of this and a little of that) family but does not size up much.

There are also russian, cuban, sendero luminoso and other crime 'famiglias' from non-traditional places. Cannot be called mafia, because this word is more Cosa Nostra (italian) than anything. But still.... careful there. this is not the place to discuss crime.

PS... Google crime syndicates, cosa nostra, italian maffia ... in nj and you will get tons of stuff... lovely.
