Dont flip the bird while on the road, Moni. It is legally considered as Road Rage. No kidding! Besides, your babies might pick it up somehow and... baaaaad!
State troopers in NJ, or any other state for that matter are... hmph!
California passed such a phone law last December and people where given a six-month grace period where only warnings were issued (and their names and dl's entered on a special databank, hahaha).
Now, this coming July 1st., the law will grow teeth and be fully enforced. the California Highway Patrol has been advising motorists with daily tv ads and will be fully enforcing it.
First ofense: Car impounded for 3 months and licence suspended for the same period. No fine.
Second ofense: Car impounded for 6 months, licence suspended for up to one year. $50 dollar fine.
Third ofense: Car impounded for one year and licence revoked. $hefty fine. Dont recall amount.
And the above is only if you have not caused an accident. If you do cause an accident and no human is hurt... stiff fines, besides car impounding and your licence is revoked permanently from first ofense.
If human life is taken. No pass, go directly to jail for a long time.
You can only use the phone with hands-off equipment (preferaby bluetooth). Cannot even "press to talk" or texting. If you wanna txt, get off the road, do your texting, close the phone and go back to driving, period.
