Default I got camping blues

Anybody like to camp or have been camping can give me some tips about how to get out of going camping???

My DH is a real Rambo and I am not. He wants to take me and the girls out camping and I don't think it's a good idea since there will no indoor plumbing let alone any indoors where he wants to go.

I never been camping and I'm not a girly girl, but I'm afraid of the dark, bugs and off-leash animals. Help!!!! Calm me...

I think I like your husband... a real Rambo? Grrrrreat! He could join me on a whitewater rafting trip over at the Colorado River... lots of category 3/4 and some category five rapids. BEAYOOTIFUL! Or, he ould join me and my buddies on a weekender trip to the San Pedro Martir Range? Trout fishing and all that... and the coyotes are in mating season so there is a lot of nightime howling concerts. cool!

for you? tell him to set up a tent in the backyard and stock it with lots of comfort food, a tv, thick air matress, etc. feel better?

and you are the one who says she likes to drive on the Jersey pike waving the finger to others? ohhhhhhhh

instead of trying to get out of it i say embrace it. Remember you only live once and your girls might really like it. Its fun to go camping and live in the out doors for a few days.

try it. atleast just to please your DH . He deserves it IMHO.

Google it, Moni... goooooogle iiiiit! Gas? Depending how far you go (round trip), how hilly, how much traffic, how big the camper (why not go all the way and rent a Winnebago anyway?), how much power you need for all the stuff you carry in there, including your curling iron... and at four plus dollars per gallon (and being lucky enough that no one cuts the fuel line while you are asleep at the campsite and steal your gas... which has been a hot news item lately)... make your calcs...

Better take a hike or camp in your backyard, kiddo.

I'm not sure what I said to deserve this response.

You asked how much to rent a camper and how are campers on gas.

I just tried to list all the variables involved in the gas thing, gas being over four dollars a gallon just now and campers being notorious gas guzzlers.

Did not meant it as an ofense, Moni. Just think: A vehicle advertised MPG is arrived to under controlled conditions such as flat and level ground, no wind, steady speed (no stop and go), nice weather and so forth.

In reality, it is the other way around with hilly terrain (which makes the engine work harder and thus wastes more gas), power requirements (same thing), airconditioning usage (same), size of camper (same), etc. So, if you do make your calculations (you can always ask a car rental company for a given vehicle's rated MPG and then use that figure along with cost of gas in your area and make the necessary adjustments for gas wasting variables to arrive to your actual cost (rental plus insurance plus gasoline plus other expenses). Clear now?

The backyard tent thing was merely because, if you backtrack on the thread, you will find I initially commented the very same thing somewhere.

As for the gas theft... this has been happening quite often lately, especially in the eastern seaboard states. check these out, there are tons of the same all over.

Well?

Again, sorry for commenting.
