I actually just got the program and looking forward to using it. I have been wanting to learn graphics for some time now so can't wait.

I'm pretty proficient in Photoshop. A couple of my gamer friends have asked me to design abstract/dark/gaming signatures and avatars, and I've done all of them within 24 hours. They've been very happy with it so it's good.

The thing about Photoshop - You have to keep at it. Messing around once in a while, I think, will not increase your skill levels enough to be able to use it properly. And i also HIGHLY recommend buying a book. I recently bought 'How to Cheat in Photoshop CS3' by Steve someone or other and he is an expert who knows his stuff. He writes clearly and provides step by step detail so even a newbie could follow. I'm moving on to try and design banners. I'm offering free design right now in an attempt to promote my own forums and improve my skills

I've got time on my hands. I gotta use it while I can!

Thanks for the positive feedback. Photoshop isn't really that hard once you get the hang of it. You just have to find a design pattern for yourself, then follow it. Once you keep doing that over and over again you'll master the techniques you use - then you can move on to other stuff. At the moment, i suck with lighting effects. Can't make anything seem neat or shiny.

Part of my professional training is in graphic arts. Worked many years in a major multinational corporation, in their all-in-one printer division as a QA Supervising Engineer in their new product research and development department.

Am familiar with all Adobe products, including Photoshop, but I dont use them per se. Still, a trained eye is a trained eye and your designs have a lot of merit. Keep it up and dont cut corners!
